The Greenwood Genetic Center is a wonderful resource and we welcome any interested classes, community groups or individuals to visit our campus. The Division of Education has converted former laboratory space on our Greenwood campus into a dedicated educational space for visiting groups. This renovation allows visitors to not only tour and learn about GGC, but also have hands-on experience with some of the most current technologies in the medical genetics field.
The Education Center includes a classroom, computer lab and laboratory space equipped with the same technologies used in our diagnostic and research labs. A visit to the Genetic Education Center may include an introductory presentation about GGC, a walking tour of our laboratory facilities, and per teacher request, participation in a laboratory activity or module. School groups, adult community organizations, professional groups or any interested individuals are invited to tour our facility.
Contact our Division of Education at lmt@ggc.org for more information or to schedule a tour. Please note that all individuals participating in a tour and/or lab activity should adhere to professional dress standards. For safety reasons, shorts, short skirts and open-toed shoes will not be permitted in the lab areas.
The Treatment Center opened in the summer of 2009 and is home to the clinical and laboratory divisions of GGC. The first floor houses the clinic area where patients are evaluated and treated. The second floor comprises the Biochemical Genetics, Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Diagnostic Laboratories
The administrative activities of GGC including human resources, billing and IT are housed in the Administration building. Prior to 2009, this building contained the clinic space, in 2010 this area was converted into office and workspace for the Center of Bioinformatics and Epidemiology.
The Genetic Education Center is home to the Division of Educations and provides space for visiting students and community groups to learn more about GGC as well as participate in hands-on laboratory activities. The building includes a classroom, learning laboratory and computer area. It served as GGC’s Diagnostic Laboratory until 2009 and still houses the microarray lab.
The JC Self Research Institute is home to the research division of GGC. Opening in 1995 the building houses GGC’s research laboratories and office space.
The McAlhany Family Center for Collaborative Research is connected to the JC Self Research Institute and houses laboratory and office space for collaborative efforts. The first floor of the building contains GGC’s Klauber Library and the Curry Conference Center/Auditorium.
