Chromosome Analysis; Rule out mosaic (Solid Tissue)

Test Information

Chromosome mosaicism is defined as the presence of two or more cell lines with different chromosome constitutions in a single individual. Chromosome analysis to rule out mosaicism from solid tissue includes routine karyotyping using G-banded preparations. A minimum of 50 cells are counted and 5 cells are analyzed for chromosomal abnormalities.

Transport Instructions

Fresh tissue specimens should be kept at room temperature if it will be transported immediately. If specimen is not being immediately transported to the laboratory, it may be refrigerated; do not freeze. Specimen should be sent by courier or overnight mail to arrive at the laboratory within 24 hours.
