Katharine attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she earned a Bachelor's in Biology and a Master's in Bioinformatics. During her graduate program she became a research assistant and a software tester at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC where she focused on discovering new splicing events in Arabidopsis thaliana using RNASeq data and the Integrated Genome Browser. Upon graduation Katharine began her career in bioinformatics at the Greenwood Genetic Center in 2012. Her current focus is on developing and utilizing bioinformatic tools and software to analyze high-throughput next generation sequencing, data mining, and machine learning.
