GGC Recognizes Retiring Board Members
The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) Board of Directors recently recognized John McAlhany, PhD and George "Bal" Ballentine, Jr. for their service to the
Center and the Board.
McAlhany, a financial manager retired from Greenwood Capital Associates, joined the GGC Board of Directors in 1991. In 2015, he and his wife, Norma,
established The McAlhany Family Center for Collaborative Research on GGC's campus which fosters research partnerships and currently houses laboratories
involved with new and emerging diagnostic technologies. McAlhany departs the Board as the current vice chair and secretary of the Board and as
a member of the finance and building committees. He has also been named Director Emeritus.
"John has brought his extensive experience in matters of business and finance to the GGC Board and has invested personally in its future," said John
Hunt, MD, GGC Board of Directors Chair. "His steady guidance has seen the Center grow into an internationally respected leader in medical genetics."
George W. "Bal" Ballentine is also stepping down from the GGC Board of Directors after working with the Center since 2009. Ballentine is the President
of Ballentine Ford-Lincoln and Ballentine Toyota dealerships in Greenwood. He has served on the Board's Finance and Personnel committees
"John and Bal have each provided GGC with instructive advice, helping us to advance our mission of providing the most advanced care to patients and
their families" shared Steve Skinner, GGC Director. "We appreciate their dedication and service to GGC.
